One of the skills we are working on in kindergarten is counting. We can count many different things. Our question for the National Math Trail is:
How many poles are holding up our covered walkways?
To find the solution, we counted the poles one section at a time. Then we counted colored blocks to represent the poles that we counted.
Number of Poles:
Pre-k to Kinder on left 22
Pre-K to kinder on right 22
Pre-k to gym on left 14
Pre-k to gym on right 14
Behind pre-k 6
Gym to kinder on left 25
Gym to kinder on right 25
Behind kinder bldg 26
At Bus ramp 25
We grouped the blocks into groups of ten and counted by ten to find the answer.
WE HAD 179 POLES IN ALL!
