Tioga Central Elementary School

Tioga Center, New York is a small town off 17C between Nichols and Owego, New York.  It has one post office and a small general store.  Tioga has a population of around 1200 students total between the elementary, middle and high school.  Known for its friendly atmosphere and small class sizes, Tioga offers children an opportunity to succeed beyond all limits.

Our math trial began in the fourth grade classroom of Mrs. Gill. Mrs. Gill has been a teacher for 34 years and is continuing for another year before retiring at 35 years in the educational system.  She has been at Tioga for all of her teaching career and at the fourth grade level for 31 of those 34 years. The latest area in math that she has been teaching is area, perimeter and volume (recently introduced). Some students picked to do their math trial right in the classroom and surrounding areas in the building, so this is where we shall begin the math trail.
