Brumby Elementary School
Math Science Discovery Lesson
Elizabeth Curtis and her Kindergarten Class
Our Kindergarten Class decided to see which plants would work best to beautify our school grounds. Thus we decided to do discovery based learning. The learners researched to see which plants would work best for our demographic area. The learners also decided which plants would best thrive for the amount of shade, sunlight etc. Many math skills were used to analyze data and solve problems. The learners had to keep records of observations, and use estimation and measurement. The learners began by sprouting different seeds to see which would sprout first. Then the learners graphed daily to see the amount of growth. All of the learners have enjoyed contributing to the atmosphere in the school community. We are all on our way to continuing to be life long learners.
