Problem: If there are 50 gallons of water in the pool and 5 gallons of water evaporate per hour. How many gallons of water will evaporate in 24 hours?
Solution: The water will be all gone because the amount that has been evaporated is 120 gallons of water
Problem: If a girl talks on the phone for 9 hours and it costs $1.50 every 30 minutes, how much money would she have to pay?
Solution: $1.50 x 2 = $3.00 $3.00 x 9 = $27.00
Problem: If the deep end of the pool is 11 feet and the shallow part of the pool is 2 1/2 feet deep; What is the difference in depth?
Solution: 11 - 2 1/2 = 8 1/2 feet
Problem: If it takes 28 steps to get from one side of the dugout to the other in size 4 1/2 feet. How many steps would it take to walk back and forth 6 times?
Solution: 6 x 2 = 12 28 x 12 = 336 steps
Problem: If a 10 year old can run up and down 6 steps 18 times in one minute; How many times can the 10 year old run up and down the steps in 20 minutes?
Solution: First I multiplied 20 x 18 = 360
I multiplied 8 x 0 then I
I multiplied 8 x 2 = 160. Then
I multiplied 1 x 0 then I
I multiplied 1 x 2 = 20.
Then I added 160 + 20 = 360 steps
