Our town library is called the Haston Free Public Library. We are doing our math problem on it. It was built in 1894. That means it is about 107 years old! It is a very majestic building and it has a lot of history in our town. It is home to about 20,081 books and about 30,000 books are circulated in this library a year. There used to be a house on the lot but it was moved off the lot to let the library be built. Mr. and Mrs. Erastus Haston were the kind people who donated their time and money to build our town library.
It was originally called the Free Public Library because the Hastons didnt want the library to be named after them. Instead they wanted the library to be named for the community. Later on in the librarys history it was re-dedicated to the Haston family.
The library has been restored before but in the upcoming years it is going to undergo the biggest restoration project in its history. It was originally built out of Milford granite and much of that granite can still be seen from the walkway.
This is our town library and the different history that surrounds it all summed up in short form. We hope now you will better understand our math problem.

Math problems
Our library has 20,081 books. When it undergoes its restoration next year, they will get rid of 362 books and get 452 more. In the next year after that, they will get rid of 206 more and buy 379 more. If they continue getting rid of 206 books and buying 379 more, for another two years, how many more books will they have?
Solution: The solution to our problem is 20,690 books.
The librarys restoration costs about $100,843.00 dollars, and North Brookfield has 4,500 citizens. Half of this will be paid for by a grant. The other half will be paid for by the citizens in taxes. How much will each citizen in town pay?
Solution: Each citizen in town will pay $11.20.
