History:
The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars in the history of the United States. It took more American lives than any other war. One of the most decisive battles was Gettysburg. The three-day battle ended with bloody results. This battle was the turning point of the war. The Union over powered the Confederate forces, sending them back to the South.
Problem:
If a ten-pound field-rifled cannon fired a ten-pound shell, how long would it take if a target was 1200 yards away and it was traveling 20 mph?
Solution:
We divided the distance by the speed of the shell, to determine the amount of time it took to reach the target.
