My problem is: How many people can the Lincoln Football
Field Stadium seat? The career category this
would fall under is: Carpenters. Because, if the school needed more seating they
could tell the carpenter that they wanted a total of 15,000 seats. He would use his mathematical skills to
figure out how many seats were in the stadium. Then, he would know how many
more seats he would need to build.
First, I counted how many rows of seats for each size.
Then, I measured the length of the two different sizes of the seats. Then, I
took the length of the size one, times the amount of that size of seat. Top row was not included.
There were 15 benches in each section. The South Section
measured 21 feet in length. The Middle
Section measured 41 feet in length. The
North section measured 21 feet in length. The Top Row measured 86 feet in
length because it had no aisles.
So the total amount of feet of seating for the South
Section is 315 feet. The total amount
of feet of seating for the Middle Section is 615 feet. So the total amount of
feet of seating for the North section is 315 feet. The top row total amount of feet of seating is 86 feet.
The average space a person takes up is 2 feet. So the South side can hold 157 people. The middle can hold 307 people. The north side holds 157 people. The top can hold 43 people. So the whole
stadium can hold 664 people! What a big
stadium for a little town!!
