Kyle Mitsumori US Navy Pilot Oceana, Virginia |
Kyle Mitsumori grew up in Hawaii and was selected to the United States Naval Academy. He graduated from the Academy with a B.S. in electrical engineering then attended Primary Flight School in Pensacola, Florida. Mitsumori then attended Intermediate/Advanced Flight School in Kingsville, Texas, and the F-14 Replacement Training in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Presently he is a member of Fighter Squadron 32, the "Fighting Swordsmen," and a member of Fighter Wing Atlantic at NAS Oceana, Virginia. There are a number of mathematical calculations a fighter pilot must perform mentally as he/she is in the air. Landing on an ocean bound aircraft carrier is one of the more complicated procedures a pilot does. With planes landing on the deck within seconds of each other, timing is crucial. Speed, distance and time must all be calculated and calculated CORRECTLY each time to safely land.
